Amapiano has taken the world by storm with new tracks going viral on entertainment platforms such as TikTok within days of release & sometimes before official release. Music on TikTok
The love for the genre in-app has resulted in #Amapiano ranking as the most popular music hashtag on TikTok in South Africa - with over 1.3 billion views to date. In light of this global success, TikTok has decided to host its very first LIVE Amapiano Music Festival to celebrate the genre, the latest Amapiano songs and the talent that has put South African music, and TikTok music, on the music world map.
“Music remains a special part of TikTok's creative DNA as we aim to change the way people consume music. As a springboard for songs and artists, TikTok breathes new life into catalogue tracks and also provides a fresh platform for emerging and established musicians alike to reach new fans. When it comes to Amapiano, it is so great to see TikTok’s global community embracing African music. Over the last few years, Amapiano has grown substantially on the platform and we look forward to seeing it grow even more in future.” - Yuvir Pillay, Music Operations Manager at TikTok.

"I am really excited to be part of the TikTok Amapiano Music Festival, especially because I get to do it with an incredible entertainment platform like TikTok and artists who I have looked up to for so many years. Music has always been a passion of mine and through TikTok, I have been able to share that passion with the world. TikTok has most certainly been the launchpad for my music career - I don’t think I’d be where I am today without it. I would encourage aspiring musicians to get on the platform and share their sounds with the world - you never know what could happen.” - Khanyisa Jaceni, TikTok South Africa Creator
