Can you tell us about the creative process behind developing the PRIDE by Creators Effect? What were your main objectives and considerations?
The creative process involved embracing my own uniqueness and letting my light shine brightly without fear. My main objective was to create an effect that would empower others to do the same, enabling them to express their pride in a vibrant and uplifting way.
What does it mean to you personally to have a dedicated effect that celebrates Pride on TikTok?
Personally, having a dedicated effect for LGBTQIA+ content means having a reliable resource where I can search for LGBTQIA+-related content. It symbolizes a space where I can turn to express myself freely and connect with like-minded creators.
I hope the effect will create awareness, not only within our community but also globally. It serves as a symbol of visibility and support, allowing African content and creators to shine brightly while demonstrating unity and helping each other.
Were there any specific challenges or memorable moments you encountered while working on the PRIDE by Creators Effect?
Working as a team and sharing ideas was a joyous experience. The main challenge we faced was having an abundance of incredible ideas, making it difficult to incorporate them all at once. Nonetheless, the process was immensely enjoyable.
How do you envision the PRIDE by Creators Effect contributing to the larger conversation around LGBTQIA+ representation and acceptance in South Africa?
I envision the PRIDE by Creators Effect serving as a vibrant reminder to South Africa and the world that African LGBTQIA+ communities exist and thrive. It showcases the diversity and vibrancy within our community, sparking important conversations about representation and acceptance. I hope users feel a profound sense of pride in who they are, unrestricted by societal norms. Whether they identify as gay, straight, or have unique interests, the effect sends a powerful message that we are all human beings embracing our differences together.
Can you share any insights or stories from the LGBTQIA+ community that inspired you during the creation of the PRIDE by Creators Effect?
My inspiration stemmed from personal experiences of loneliness and low self-esteem. When I was invited to the TikTok community headquarters, I finally felt a sense of belonging and acceptance of my true self, even in my larger bear body size.

To celebrate Pride Month, I will be taking to the streets, proudly wearing my pride socks and shorts, showing my support and unity for the LGBTQIA+ community.
