Black History Month 2026: Celebrating 5 Years of #BlackTikTok

This Black History Month, we’re celebrating five years of #BlackTikTok: a community-driven space where creativity, culture, and storytelling thrive. #BlackTikTok continues to empower creators and entrepreneurs who shape global trends, spark innovation, and drive meaningful impact.

#BlackTikTok creators continue to spark global trends, redefine digital storytelling, and build communities worldwide. To help foster connections, over the past five years TikTok has hosted virtual and in-person events, educational webinars, and engagement sessions, equipping creators with tools to monetize and insights to thrive in the creator economy. Use of the hashtag has grown as well — since 2020, the volume of unique content published using the tag #BlackTikTok has grown by 11×, representing an array of verticals including fashion, entertainment, sports, learning, food and more.

#BlackTikTok Creator Spotlight

This month we’re spotlighting creators who inspire audiences everywhere through their content — highlighting the creativity and authenticity that define #BlackTikTok:

  • @dadlifejason (Altus, OK) - Jason Linton is a husband and father to three adopted children — Lillian, Christian, and Harper — who uses his platform to share uplifting stories about parenthood, education, and inclusivity. From comedic dance routines to his signature “talk box” music sessions, Jason invites viewers into his family’s everyday moments.
  • @dreaknowsbest (Los Angeles, CA) - Drea Okeke is a Nigerian-American content creator, comedian, and speaker Drea blends humor and culture, collaborating with global brands and celebrities. A prolific public speaker, she has hosted the red carpet for the BET Awards as well as the NAACP Image Awards, spoken on panels at Cannes Lions for companies like L’Oreal, TikTok, and Influential; and MC’d TikTok World. She was named to Forbes’ Top Creator List two years in a row as well as their 30 Under 30, and has also attended the Academy Awards as an official Academy Partner.
  • @joelbervell (Snohomish, WA) - Dr. Joel Bervell, MD, is a Peabody Award–winning Ghanaian-American physician, science communicator, and host of The Dose podcast with The Commonwealth Fund. Widely known as the “Medical Mythbuster,” he uses digital storytelling to uncover racial disparities, challenge bias in healthcare, and reveal hidden histories in medicine.
  • @onestopchop (Stafford, VA) - Daven Gates is a dad, self-taught chef, and Army veteran who shares his culinary expertise through engaging recipe videos. Beyond food, he uses his platform to openly discuss mental health and support others transitioning from military to civilian life.
  • @stormthedj (Los Angeles, CA) - Storm the DJ is a high-energy DJ and producer bringing bass-heavy, feel-good sets to TikTok. Through club anthems, remixes, and live party moments, she’s building a vibrant space for music lovers, aspiring DJs, and fans worldwide.
  • @themoodyfoody (Miami, FL): Toni Chapman is the author of the New York Times best-selling cookbook “Everything's Good” and the creator of Themoodyfoody and Toni's Recipes. Her approachable home-style cooking is bold, soulful and inspired by her Afro-Latina roots.
  • @therealtati (Los Angeles, CA): Tati Mitchell is your fun foodie bestie, serving up authentic personality and hilarious commentary across lifestyle and cooking content, bringing energy to everything she shares with her audience.
  • @thesweetimpact (Atlanta, GA): Robert Lucas is a self-taught cake artist and former IT professional who shares the process behind his imaginative cake creations. His work features elaborate designs inspired by pop culture, including Nike Air Jordans, Beauty and the Beast, and Space Jam.
