On TikTok, we are in awe of the amazing charities on our platform. From raising awareness of important causes to encouraging our community to get involved with fundraising, there are so many varied and inspirational organisations using TikTok as a force for good.

With the rise of TikTok as a powerful tool for advocacy and fundraising, we believe every charitable organisation should have the skills to navigate and leverage the platform to tackle misinformation and provide reliable advice and support. Currently, 4 out of 5 charities do not see themselves as excellent on social media, and in 2024 almost 80% of charities see improving their website, digital presence or social media as the greatest priority (Source: Charity Digital Skills Report 2023).

That is why we're proud to announce the launch of our biggest charity sector training initiative to date in the UK. In partnership with Media Trust, over 100 charities will receive 3 weeks of expert and tailored training on how to use the platform to reach new audiences and drive positive change.

What the TikTok Charity Academy will offer

Media Trust will host online sessions where charities will learn practical skills in content creation strategies, engagement techniques, and best practices for maximising their presence on TikTok. The training programme will cover a range of topics including:

💡 The fundamentals of a TikTok strategy

🛠️ Practical tools and techniques to create trusted and engaging content

📱 Maximising the charity’s impact on the platform

Here's how to get involved

📚 The TikTok Charity Academy will run from 1 – 19 July, with a full schedule provided to those attending.

Su-Mei Thompson, CEO of Media Trust, said:“We want charities to become influential voices on TikTok, using the platform to create better outcomes for both people and planet. TikTok is a unique space where we see younger audiences engaging in the most pressing societal conversations. That’s why Media Trust, in partnership with TikTok, will launch the TikTok Charity Academy, equipping charities to create authentic, positive and impactful content. And using the platform to combat harmful misinformation and amplify the voices of marginalised communities.”

Olenka Hodge, Social Impact Lead TikTok, EMEA added: "It is a pleasure to be working in collaboration with the Media Trust on the TikTok Charity Academy, a initiative that aims to support and empower charities to use TikTok to drive positive change. Every single day over 1 billion people come together on TikTok to share their voice, discover communities and learn something new; through this programme we hope that charities across the UK will be able to reach and educate new audiences with their invaluable work."
