Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oxlade, has risen to international fame thanks to the global explosion of his viral single, “KU LO SA” on our platform.
“KU LO SA” was a collaborative single funded by the music platform, ColorsXStudios, commonly known as Colors, which is a German music performance platform that aims to introduce and showcase emerging talent in the form of videos with minimalist aesthetics. Four Nigerian acts premiered singles with Colors this year, including Joeboy, Ayra Starr, and Victony. However, Oxlade’s “KU LO SA'' has had the greatest traction of all, steadily ascending charts since its release in June.
The song became a global hit following a TikTok creator named Siimsoon who initiated a dance-along challenge that imitated Oxlade’s dance routine from his Colors “KU LO SA” performance. Oxlade's Ku Lo Sa has successfully shown the power of TikTok as the ultimate platform to release new music - with participation from over 50 countries, 8 million published videos, 10 billion views, 872 million likes and 32 million shares.
To celebrate the success of the song, we launched a distinctive KULOSA Effect that will allow our community the experience to replicate the green room effect of Oxlade’s live Colors performance.
“KU LO SA” debuted in June reaching number eight on the Official Afrobeats Chart Top 20. Following Drex’s playful interpretation of his dance routine on TikTok, interest in the single surged and the sound has been viewed more than 8 billion times on our platform with over 7 million video creations and over 30 million shares attached to it. In recognition of the success of “KU LO SA,” Oxlade was named the first Pandora Africa's Next Artist in July 2022.
